Phife Dawg of A Tribe Called Quest passes away, aged 45

According to Tweet from DJ Chuck Chillout, our hero and all round legendary Hip Hop artist Phife Dawg of A Tribe Called Quest has passed away. The announcement came last night much to the surprise of us all, at the young age of 45.

Phife was diagnosed Type-I diabetes in 1990 and had been battling with health issues for some time although its currently not clear what caused his death.

Phife Dawg was one of the founding members of pioneering Hip Hop group A Tribe Called Quest, who was also known as the Five Foot Assassin or Five Foot Soldier due to his 5'3'' height. ATCQ are responsible for some of the most popular and inspirational hits such as 'Can I Kick It?', 'Electric Relaxation' and of course our favourite 'Bonita Applebum'.

Rest In Peace Phife.
